What is the Northeastern Gamers Hub?

Last year a new forum went online. Unlike most forums and websites that attempt to get as many people as possible to join, this forum was limited in its scope and reach.

That may sound counter-intuitive, but consider for a moment what this means. If you limit who can join the forum then the forum will contain a smaller, more concise, tight nit community.

The Northeastern Gamers Hub is a forum for only those players and groups that are physically located in the Northeastern United States, from Maine to North Carolina. Anybody can read the forums, but only those who reside in the Northeast can post and reply.

This means that members can actually meet each other at events or even set up games together. It also means that when we post events, they are events that are within a few hour's drive.

There are the typical sections you would expect to see in a forum: rules discussions for various games, battle reports, works in progress, completed works, etc. But the real power in the forums is the section for each gaming group, the events section, and the games setup section.

Each gaming group has a section for their communications in the forum if they request it. This is a great way for group members to discuss things concerning their group or just for general banter. If you are part of a gaming group and want your own section, click here.

The Events section lists all of the events that are occurring in the Northeast. Tournaments, painting competitions, huge games, etc. When you look at it all, the number of events for any given weekend is amazing. Did you know that on June 25th there are four tournaments at various locations? And not all of them are Warhammer 40k! You can actually plan your gaming schedule around the events calendar.

The Games Setup section is for any member to shout out "Hey! I'm available for a game!". It makes it easier to set up games with other members. We jokingly call this the "Nerd Dating Service" because you can set up a game with anyone. Having problems getting to the FLGS for a game? Set up a basement game with someone in the Games Setup section. Many FLGS do not have a specific night set aside for gaming. This section is useful to find out when other players will be available so you don't just show up and stare at the table.

The bigger forums are great and offer a wide range of opinions (which may be a good or bad thing). There is a need for the huge forums for the gaming community as a whole. The NGH, however, has a very different and very specific focus: to bring gamers in the Northeastern US together. It's about bringing individuals and groups together.
